About James Turner
James Turner is the rare TCG credit who shaped the Pokémon themselves: in 2010 he became the first Westerner to officially design Pokémon, creating Vanillite, Golurk, Buzzwole and Obstagoon among others, and he served as Art Director on Pokémon Sword and Shield. His five cards, from Pansear in 2012 to Shrouded Fable's Duskull line, are a rare case of a game designer illustrating the creatures he works on. He left Game Freak in 2022 to co-found the studio behind The Plucky Squire.
Their most valuable card is Pikachu ex (#277/217, Ascended Heroes), estimated at $290–$380. Cards are ordered by estimated market value.
